University.Worth it or not?

As a prospect university student myself, I always wonder why my tuition fee are  going to be so expensive. Especially when I’m going to study overseas where every pound I spent was equivalent to 5  back in my home country. Also, there is this saying, “you use only about 5% of what you learn at university” which gets everyone with a right mind thinking, why attend university at all if you don’t apply the things you have learnt?

The mainstream media have got most of us into this fairytale story telling us that if we do not graduate with at least a degree, we do not get a job. Well, that is just one side of the story that appeals to only the employers, not the students.

Here are why our university and college education do not appeal to you students and is definitely not worth your parents’ hard earned money.

University Education is Nothing near Advanced Technologically

If you plan to take engineering and hope to get hands-on experience with high-end manufacturing machines. Think again, you might want to double your tuition fees to take up postgraduate studies instead.

If you plan to take commerce with the hope to graduate with all the skills needed to success in trading and investment, you will fail miserably because in university they teach you nothing about diversifying your portfolio. They teach you to diversify your portfolio in stocks, which makes you a loser every time the market crashes.

If you plan to take IT courses, prepare to meet lecturers who have no idea what they are teaching.

If you plan to take law and medicine, you graduate working your heads off with companies that pays you dirt.

Either way, by the time you graduate, all the things you have learnt is outdated and you will have to re-learn everything when you join a corporation.

It’s All About Business Mate

Very few universities actually promote real, practical, hands-on education. Education is now an industry, your vice-chancellors care not about your welfare as a student. Even if you’re excellent in your studies at postgraduate level, they hire you just to keep you as a tutor and pay you enough (you don’t want to be earning only enough your entire life) so that you can produce more papers to promote the university. Yay free advertisement.

Highest Inflation on Your Tuition Fees

Believe it or not, the inflation in the university and college education sector is one of the most inflated industries in the world. I did a search while I was surfing around the other day and found this.

Inflation in Education Fees

I then checked this graph with the CPI index of Australia and learnt that the inflation in education even higher than the inflation in healthcare!  So I have come to a conclusion that this graph represents most of the universities and colleges around the world. So much for the importance of tertiary education.

Do you know that the money I spent studying in Australia can be used as a down payment for about 3 houses back in my hometown. Can I buy 3 houses in the next 4 years as a university graduate working for companies that pays me dirt? Very unlikely.

The Ever Growing World Wide Web

Every second, data as big as the Library of Congress is transmitted over the internet. You can imagine the whole library swooshing around the world in the network cable. Almost everything you need to know is available on the internet. In fact, most of the assignment given to you in university or college requires the use of the internet to complete them.

Why would you still need to pay a huge sum of money to the education institutes to tell you things that can be easily searched from the internet for free?

What Can We Do About This?

I guess we could form a union and go on a strike on hopes that the universities will reduce the tuition fees, which sounds extremely impractical and dangerous. On top of that, going on a strike is also something done by a person who has no control over anything; to simply put it, a university graduate who is being kicked around in the society.

So what are our options?

A few months ago, I met up with a friend called Fred at a cafe. Fred was complaining about his expensive tuition fees, he said that he should have taken his friend’s suggestion before he entered college.

His friend’s suggestion was this. Instead of paying a lump sum of your university savings to people who teaches you a lot of impractical crap, spend those money on your first few businesses and professional courses.

US’s average annual tuition fee is about 25,000 USD, a university course is usually 3 to 4 years depending on which degree you are taking. Fred’s friend suggested that you spend 20,000 USD on a new business and spend the rest attending courses that will enhance your professional skills.

Most of the time, your first business will fail. But keep in mind that you have 2 more years of savings to work on and usually you learn a tonne after your first business failure. Pool them together with the knowledge you gain from the professional courses you attend, I am sure your second and third (if not your fourth) business will be a success. That is when you will have control over your life.

Please bear in mind that I am not exactly advocating these kind of ideas. However, I believe it is something worth trying out if the universities and colleges keep on jacking up their education fees.

Why is Today’s Pop Music so bad?

What is wrong with the musicians of today? With so many cover versions around , and the absurdity of ‘sampling’ – which is really theft under a different name – why cant anybody come up with great music anymore?. Is it any wonder then , that the back catalogs of Elvis , The Beatles and so many other ‘oldies’ continue to outsell most of the modern artistes. The reasons for this are blatantly obvious. Firstly , Elvis really could sing, and The Fabs really could knock out a killer tune, almost to order.Today’s lot – well – talk about boring, sterile and unoriginal !!! Nobody seems able , or willing to take a chance and blow all this rap and so called RnB rubbish out of the water. The last band who i’d consider to be a breath of fresh air were Nirvana, whose mix of Beatles melodies and Black Sabbath type music really pointed the way forward. And we all know what happened there, when that ***** Cobain couldn’t take the pressures of fame , and despite having written a song with the words ‘No i don’t have a gun’ , blew his brains out.Pleas , today’s pap – sorry – pop stars , don’t be afraid to take the odd chance here and there. History just may thank you for it one day – Ask The Elvis Estate , or the surviving Beatles. It just might be worth it…

Video game addiction.

I wanted to write an article about video game addiction for a while.

I found one which I think is very interesting.

In my opinion yes video game addiction is VERY real and it is potential dangerous and damaging.
I have been a video game addict. The truth is that if you are denying it chances are you probably are an addict too.

Leaving video game addiction is hard as it seems there is nothing that can occupy your day besides video games.

I hope everyone who suffers this problem will get help as soon as possible. If heroine users can break their addiction then so can you.

Democratic party started the KKK now has Obama as president.

I was reading about the American civil war earlier and it turns out that there is a bit of a misconception.I researched it a bit further and lo and behold I was right.

See the democrats throughout the 2008 campaign and even now aer stating that they are ”the people’s party” and are promoting racial equality with Obama as the first African-American president in the United States.

There is one small well heck HUGE  problem with their statements. Its all not true!

Truth about the Democratic Party and Republican Party which they do not want to tell you or just assumed people knew the truth of these parties.

The Democratic Party was originally created by two Virginians. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. It was originally called AntiFederalist but that sounded bad so they called it the Democratic Republican party with Thomas Jefferson its first President.

With the collapse of the Wig Party and the bitter debate over Texas, The former Wig Party combined with split Democratic Republican party to create a new party for the elections held in 1836 called the Republican Party.

So from 1836 to the present, The democratic party and the Republican party has been with us.

The Democratic party was predominately southern plantation owners or southern land owners and Northern catholics and most jewish communities.

In 1848, it was the democratic party which pushed for slaves to be property everywhere in the US. It was the democratic party which  opposed any bill on Black racial equality or women’s rights.

By the election of 1862, The democratic party leaders pulled out of the Congress and formed the new government of the Confederacy because the Opposed the Republican position of hope and change to allow for a more intergrated America but pushed for a more comprehensive ecconomic plan. ( Basically, Slaves did not count like they used to and could be taxed more than they used to.)

Abraham Lincoln in a debate said if he could free the slaves without due hardship he would do also angered the south.

After the Civil War, Lincoln a republican has as his VP a Democrat from Tennessee named Andrew Johnson. Johnson was against the plantation social ecconomic structure of the rich which was based on slavery. Either the Slavers from the Boston, Deleware and New York or the slave owners of the south. But he made it very clear that he did not believe in racial equality.

During the term of the Democratic Party headed by Andrew Johnson, He pardoned all the conferates and allow the ex conferates to control the exslaves. Thus all of the southern states passed the so called color laws. These laws prevented voting, land ownership and limited what kind of work a black person could have in many localities accross the south. It is these color laws that were in place that were challanged and broken during the 1960’s civil rights period. It was Johnson who made some of these color laws apply in the federal level or to the federal government.

The DNC was created in 1848 to unite the party people for a common goal. The first major play of the DNC caused the Conferacy and a Civil war because of its party leaders. The next major DNC push was for the lead up to the 1866 elections. The major works of the DNC was to prevent the Blacks the right to vote. The DNC worked through their President leader Johnson to allow themselves to attack the Republican Party convention that was to be held in New Orleans.

The Republican party mainly made up of Northern abolishonist and Northern free blacks and those who fought the supremacy of the southern ideals were republican in 1866.  Even the Catholics were mainly Republican in 1866. The DNC had President Johnson issue an order for Gen. Beauford to do nothing in New Orleans and to not interfere with the local police.

Thus Gen Beauford did request a change in orders but was denied a response from Washington.

The DNC made every fireman, city worker and party follower a deputy of the Sheriff of New Orleans.  They then went down to Canal street to confront the Republicans in their convention and disrupt a parade of Blacks who were on a civil rights march.  What the DNC did was Kill all the blacks who were on the civil rights march to get the right to vote along with 90% of the republicans in the convention building. All blacks were murdered.

The end effect of this rocked the US and caused the only 2/3 victory by the Republican party known as the Radical Republicans because they could pass any law which they did. Thus the Republican party forced all the reconstruction laws starting in 1867.

The DNC did not like this and met in Nashville Tennessee. They tried to figure a way to recapture both the congress and the whitehouse. Out of that Convention in 1868, 4 men from Tennessee became so angered that they formed what they called the Strong Arm of the DNC. The formed a basic terrorist type of organiztion  which became famous over the next 100 years called the KLU KLUX KLAN. When Bedford Forest became the Grand Wizard of the KKK he coordinated with the DNC to effect elections and made both the black and white people of the south so scared that they voted the way the KKK told them to so that they would not get night time visits.

To get a visit from the KKK for a black was to be murdered or severely beaten or disabled. For a White, it was to be beaten and treated as a black which was a big deal in the hay day of the power of the Klan.

So I find it very interesting that today, the some 87% of black people vote for the democratic party and it candidates just out of party alliance. The same kind of party alliance that formed and used the KKK to deny the black people their rights as well as prevented equality when it was in the power of the DNC to make equality happen in 1865 though the Freedom act. The DNC cut off the funding for the Freedom program which was a good program. Most of the homes and schools as well as many of the first colleges for blacks came from that program.

So I find it ironic and just plain lies to hear a person who is in the Democratic party to make the claim that the Democratic Party has always been about racial equality and has always been a party for the people of color.

The truth is that is a lie. The Republican party  in truth is the party which stood up for the blacks. However, in their zeal to create equality they caused more racial division.

Just some truth that people should consider when you look at the words of candidates who will say anything for a vote. Truth is truth. The DNC has always been the dirty party and has more than once used murder to get its goals achieved. The Republican Party starting with Nixon joined the DNC in playing dirty and not taking the high road.

Thus neither are the party of the future. But I just find it ironic that a black man runs for president in the party which spawned the KKK and used the KKK to control the black votes.

To me, the DNC is still trying to control the black vote rather than allowing the black voters to choose for themselves.

In the past is was vote the way we say or be hung from a tree. Now its vote for the black candidate Obama or your a traitor to the black community and may be a victim of the inner city violence.

Thus the DNC still gets the black voters to vote at the snap of the finger of the party.  I see no difference between the DNC of 1866 and 2008 other than we have not had whole sale slaugher of black civil rights marchers.  Which by the way the democratic party and the DNC was in charge during the 1960s struggles of the civil rights era.  The pattern is there and the choices made are in any common history book or paper if anyone wanted to take the time to look it up.

Gambling : Yay or Nay.

Gambling is omnipresent it’s just a matter of finding it. To give an example, children challenge each other in terms of knowledge and information, like “which is the tallest building”, first kid says “PETRONAS TOWER” other says it is the “Burj TOWER” and they challenge each other out of excitement. It is therefore an intrinsic nature of humans to bet and play. In 2009, the world legal gambling market was worth $335 billion. This is slightly less than the turnover of the largest company in the world. Interestingly, the illegal gambling market could well have been worth much more.
What does such a ban serve? Is it simply to make citizens, who are engaged in a harmless consensual pastime, criminals? Or making gambling illegal, tells people that they live in a society that values honest work, rather than games of chance? It sounds kiddish doesn’t it?
Gambling is no different than any other consensual crime. Prohibition doesn’t stops it. It only pushes it underground, where it is impossible to monitor fraud and scams. When you make a popular activity illegal, you also create new sources of funding for criminals. It is well known that the American experiment with alcohol prohibition resulted in chaos.
Consensual crimes such as gambling don’t result in casualties, or provide evidence of the crime. All parties to an illegal card game voluntarily participate. Thus, in order to enforce these laws, the police must go out and search for criminal activities. This creates number of problems.
First, it distorts the priorities of police. If there are no victims, murder crimes, car thefts, homicides and property issues cops should not go out and arrest people anyway.
Second, the government can’t impose a ban on gambling, without encroaching on privacy and civil liberties of its citizens.
Faced with this reality, and with the fact that their citizens are betting and gambling, an increasing number of countries are liberalizing their gambling laws. Is this a step in the right direction- Yes it is,
first ,anyways people are going to bet, and it is better to adequately regulate the gambling industry than it is to make them criminals,
second, that for most people betting is a harmless pastime?
Finally, the strongest argument for the legalization of gambling is also the simplest: individual freedom. A free society where the government prohibits activities that are immoral or indecent is not really a free society. Supporters of the ban say the game play is addictive, and often point to stories of addicts who backed away college funds, have lost their homes or turned to crime to repay their debts. But the madness with our own money should not be illegal. We did not stop people from blowing their savings in the stock market or in commercial markets or in the purchase of luxury, taking out mortgages or loans they can not afford. Its not government business to policies citizens’ personal lives for bad habits in fact legalizing this will translate into huge amounts of tax collection for governments. If freedom means anything, it means the freedom to make our own choices about our own lives, our money, our habits and how we spend our leisure time.
